I think i have not the chance to mention it here, but i have landed a part-time job at school as a receptionist. Basically every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon i would be stationed at the front desk of the general office and tend to general queries and directions. Most of the time there wasn't anyone so i would just study, which i have to say that it gives me great progress with regards to computing and japanese language.

I also had the chance to meet various professors and enter different labs due to the nature of my job as an asset tracking personnel too. It is kind of a good feeling since i feel that it could be a chance to make myself a prominent figure such that people know that i can assist them...maybe. At least, i hoped to someday.

I had my first lab session on Monday, 27 August. I have to say that despite earlier preparation for it, i am still caught unprepared by the practical experiment of it. There were lots of errors that i could not have foresaw just by looking at the lab manual. While they were not fatal mistakes, i felt that it could affect my grades to a certain degree.

At the very least, the report writing will be next Monday, which still give us some leeway with regards to grading since it is a guided report where the tutors will be holding our hands. This will be the case for the next experiment as well, but it does not mean that i can just let my guard down.

Revision has been progressing well, though i have to say that for Calculus i still have reasonable doubt. While the lectures in class were too easy for me, the lecture online are way advanced for me to understand. I will need to put in more effort to make up for that gap in knowledge.

Also, i am starting to run into a wall with regards to physics. While the tutorials and assignments are still relatively easy, the lectures are getting ridiculously mathematical, especially when it comes to deriving the components of kinematics. I could ignore this for now since the assignments are still easy, but i know that sooner or later i will face problems...so notes for that on revising.

Computing and Japanese is probably my strongest now, since i had been spending considerable time on them during work. Perhaps i could divert the working hours to calculus and physics instead next week on.

...these few days i had kind of lost my drive to study. I guess i am getting a little distracted with the lady, which i hope it is not the case...but deep within me, i feel myself drawn closer and closer to her somehow. I have to stop it...before i lose sight of my goal in entirety.

Be strong...

Day 2...but i will be writing about yesterday instead. I set off early in the morning at 8am towards Tokyo station from my hotel. It was a good 20 minutes walk and with decent, cooling weather as well. I found out that opposite my building is a Konami building (although, later in the day when i return i would find that the building houses their Esports studio and school. I managed to get a Welcome Suica card at the Information Cafe of Tokyo station after a good 10 minutes of looking at the directory. The process of getting the card was simple as the staff was able to communicate in English. After i have gotten the pass, i started to look for Shinkansen ticketing machines. Because i was leaving in a short while, all of the reserved seats are already occupied and there was not much of a choice here. The plus of a non-reserved Shinkansen ticket is that you are free to board the non-reserved cabins anytime, as the ticket lasts for 4 days. I arrived at the platform to mad crowding. The...
Holy RA it's already near the end of April of 2025. Since the last post i've made a second booking to Japan, been there and returned. The visit this time was less of a rush but at the same time, i spent more time relaxing (idling) in the hotel. Originally i've planned annual visits in October of each year but i kind of felt like going again. So i made a booking towards the end of January. Unfortunately, the timing is not really good this time as the weather was pretty dark and gloomy throughout the trip. The Sun only showed up at the last 2 days of the trip. --- This time, i've visited Shizuoka again for its sushi. Same store. Same taste. I've also went to Enoshima and had "Enoshima Don", a seafood egg rice. I've mistaken "Yurantei" for the "Uomitei" that i wanted to visit. Nonetheless, the food is good. I'll visit someday again. Also, fulfilled my dream of taking the Sunrise Express, visiting Izumo and the famed Izumo Taisha (...
...with how tired i was in Japan daily, it was easy to leave out writing. For example, i'm already back in Singapore. Following the previous post, i made my way to Ueno Park, Senso-ji in Asakusa, Shikansen down to Shizuoka and visited Sunpu Castle, took a river cruise around Sumidagawa with Tokyo Cruise and ended a full day trip spending money in Akihabara buying old consoles. I'll think about whether i want to go into the details. The last actual day, Friday 18 Oct, was kind of a waste as i was "kicked out" of the hotel early and spent the day in the Airport instead. The storage was full so i couldn't leave my luggage in the airport and go somewhere else. I also can only check it in only 3 hours before the actual flight. It's a good trip overall, even with all the downtime. I am already looking forward to returning next year. I am also going to go for a Business class seat again next year.
