Alright, my 2nd game review. I have finished this a few days ago, but i played through another few times to get a tighter grip on what i want to say
Game Review #2: Bayonetta (XBox 360 version)
Story: 6/10.
Once upon a time, there are two clans of of magic users. The Lumen Sages, controllers of Light, and the Umbran Witches, controllers of darkness. The 2 clans are charged with their treasures - the Eyes of the World. However, as one of the dark bonded with one of the Light, the balance is broken between the 2 clans and they vanished out of history.
...and right at that next moment, you're thrown into 520 years later controlling Bayonetta.
The story is creative, yes. Fusing elements from Dante Aliegiri's Divine Comedy with the game is really innovative, even if it is not the first time it's done. However, because of the frequent jumping here and there, time periods and dimensions, things can get a little confusing, especially for the casual gamer.
Gameplay: 10/10
Now this is where Bayonetta redeems itself. It's simple and direct, hack and slash with style. Players can incorporate use of weapons, assigned to a Punch and Kick (Attaching it to the hands or legs) button, in whatever way they can think of, with or without pause. With more than 10 different weapons and more than 6 styles of attacks, it's near endless playing around with combos. Also, when users accumulated a full bar of Magic, Bayonetta can unleash an attack called "Torture Attack", where players will input command (Mashing a specific button or rotating the Left Stick as fast as they can) and deal out massive damage to enemies. Derived from Devil May Cry, but it clearly surpasses it.
Music: 9/10
Bayonetta incorporates the use of many classics, such as "Fly Me To The Moon" and even used famous music pieces like the "Fantasie Impromptu". They are all remixed and made into a ready for battle music. Also, a same piece of music, "Angel's Descent" is made into different versions, to use when a different type of angel appears. Very innovative. The only real problem with this, is that music is re-used to the point, you think they ran out of ideas to make. For example, "Riders of Light" was the first BGM for the first stage, after 5-10 stages later, you'll hear it again. Not that big a problem, but it just bugs me.
Overall: 9/10 (Not an average)
Despite the low score on story, i feel that this game is a good buy, after all, it may appeal to others on that aspect. The stylish action in battles is more than enough to convince me to buy, not to mention the light-hearted comedy used. So yes, if you have a PS3 or XBox 360, get it if you can.

That's it for my 2nd game review. Never would have thought i'll get the chance to review a XBox 360 game, but oh well, guess i got lucky. Till next time, people.
