Oh well, hello everyone. I'm done with my job, but before i talk about the job, let's talk about how i got it.
It started when my friend and card-mate, Astley, called and told me about a job. He said that it's a traffic surveyor and asked if i'm interested. Well, since i'm rather free after the exams and had nothing to do, i agreed to it without much hesitation.
Skipping to the day of briefing, Astley, Wei Jun, and I went to North Bridge Commercial Complex in Bugis for a briefing. The person-in-charge, Leo, briefed us about an urgent project they are doing, and some of the things we need to know to do it. When the selection for the location is going on, Astley, the main guy, just stoned all of a sudden.
...because of that, we are dispatched to Marina South, without a choice, as compared to West Coast, which is much farther. I'm considerably annoyed by his indecisiveness, but i could not bring myself to say anything harsh.
He resembles me in every way when i was young. Soft-spoken, shy and stuff like that, in front of others.
Enough about that, let's move on to work time.
---
Thursday the 10th of December was the first day i work. The place is a lot better than i had imagined. The structure of the place is better equipped than i can possibly imagine. There's even an air-conditioned cafeteria there (Not that it's rare, but just because.)!
Oh i skipped what i am to do. Basically i'm to count the number of people coming in and out of a designated area. It's quite simple, really, just that at times it's a little difficult to count the number of people when crowding appears. I'd like to remind you that the place i work at is a pier, at times the number of people can be overwhelming. Also, i need to record the number of people in a 5 minutes interval.
Sounds easy right? Well, the catch is...i'm to do that, while sitting on the same spot, for 8 hours consecutively.
Well, yeah. Very quickly it became clear that time doesn't pass fast. I quickly try and find something to occupy myself with. I'm glad that i'm quite accustomed to being by myself and don't require much company. I find it quite fun to observe the people around: Their actions and their expressions. So 8 hours is quite fast for me.
I do have my grievances. While i, in my opinion, works hard and serious, the others aren't really trying to earn their worth. One keeps sleeping and working around, 2 just chats away, another 2 - a couple - keeps running around the place, as though they are on a vacation. Seriously dissing me off.
The second day isn't exactly much better, except the fact that i'm much more used to the 8 hours grind. One interesting thing to note, my zipper on the trousers broke when i when to the toilet. It was stuck fast and refuse to slide, so i tugged at both sides and it came off like biscuit crumbs. I had to call Astley to bring some safetly pins. Good thing my shirt is big sized enough.
Well, got my pay already, though i'm not really for the money. Working, makes me feel how each minute and second passes. That's all i can say.
---
More and more people called and asked for my email regarding university applications and scholarship applications. Argh, the pressure is building up.

Well, enough for this update. See you all next time.
